|Sunday was just about the hottest day of the year so far in Philadelphia - and I could think of no better time to head out into the backyard with a 10-pound sledgehammer and a pick axe to remove the concrete walkway...
While I was hoping that this had been done shoddily, I discovered that it was a good 4-6 inches thick, and rather well laid. After some experimentation, I found that hitting the slab with five or six blows from the sledgehammer would cause enough cracks that I could then attack it with the axe from the side to break out rather large chunks. Relatively easy by comparison, but moving this stuff around is still a lot of work!
And now I've got a huge pile of concrete rubble in the middle of the yard - some of the larger chunks must be upwards of 80-100 pounds...
But what am I going to do with all of this! Anyone out there have a fetish for used-concrete?
