|Tomorrow, we pour the floor-leveling compound. Tonight we must prepare. Being the consistency of pancake batter, this stuff will continue downward until it finds the lowest spot on the floor. In our case, there happens to be a crown in the center, with a strong slope to the rear and a gentle slope forward into the front of the basement. To keep it from leaching out, I installed and caulked a temporary dam up to the wall and across the opening.
Then it was time to prime the surface with an adhesive coating specifically designed to go beneath self-leveling underlayment. Fortunately, I'm painting myself into a corner which I can escape from!
Next morning, here it is, ready for the big pour...
